* Workshops and retreats to educate and facilitate the changes that women in transition face
* Career guidance and development for individuals and small groups
* Counseling and coaching by credentialed and experienced clinicians and coaches
* An interactive website with valuable resources and information
* Formation of collegial teams for group support.
About Us
Career Women in Transition (CWIT) is a not-for-profit organization established by three high-profile career women who were facing transitions in their lives and came together to talk about their anxiety and to explore realistic options. Finding direction and purpose through their conversations, they realized that they had the experience and skills to help other women in transition facing similar dilemmas.
Over the past several decades, we as women have had the opportunity to pursue careers and professions that were never possible before. In a changing world, we served as pioneers and role models for the increasing numbers of women entering the workforce. In the world of work, we experienced a new identity and sense of self. Many of us discovered we had power and influence, were valued and respected, and had a ready-made support network. We thrived and were happy in the work world.
As growing numbers of us approach our fifties and sixties we are beginning to think about the next phase of our lives. Longevity has increased, and we face perhaps 20-30 healthy years that we must prepare for. Many of us are concerned about the transition ahead, and worry about sustaining a sense of identity and achievement, and financial security. The traditional model of "retirement" appears wanting for some. Some of us have "retired" without preparing for this major change, and find ourselves suddenly disappointed and depressed.
We welcome all career women contemplating, or in the midst of, retirement or a mid-life career change who are seeking alternatives, guidance and a supportive forum.
